Looking Back at America

I have decided to create some posts concerning the history of America. Working from the Constitution to the Bill of Rights to some ammendments which are of great interest. Reading good history books and the writings of the framers of our Constitution and other founders has really enlightened me. Sure I've learned a lot during my schooling, but I've learned much more since then through my own research and friends who also desire true understanding of our founding principles. Therefore, I thought this might be a nice way to review it and possibly share it with others. Check out http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html for some nice reading. More to come.

Why don't you look into the decay of American beliefs, as they coincide with the falling away from God. Our country has lost a lot of the blessings of God due to our moral decline. Wihout God as an absolute, how do we define right and wrong. If we accept that there is ultimate evil (obvious by Muslim TERRORISTS, call them what they are, not freedom fighters or insurgents) then there must be ultimate good.

In the postmodernest culture society refuses to see any absolute truth (promotion of situational ethics - an oxymoron) therefore they will never see absolute good and evil. The black and white turn to grey - its a slow fade. Then "conservatives" that don't aknowledge God wonder why they aren't having a positive effect. If you have no absolute to stand on you're only on shifting sand. A house built on a solid foundation will weather the storm. One built on sand will topple, even if it is the best above foundation structure ever built.

Without God, there can be no absolute!

"Our country has lost a lot of the blessings of God due to our moral decline." So you believe in a vengeful God?

"Wihout God as an absolute, how do we define right and wrong." How about a little common sense? Something else a lot of people have lost.

"If we accept that there is ultimate evil (obvious by Muslim TERRORISTS, call them what they are, not freedom fighters or insurgents) then there must be ultimate good." I don't believe that is the best example of ultimate evil. Remember, they worship the same God.

"promotion of situational ethics - an oxymoron" No disagreement with you here.

There's no doubt that "situational ethics" has lead to a great decline in our society. I've found that asking two questions can lead to a good base read of a person's values: 1) Is it morally wrong to steal? (most often answered "yes") 2) Is it morally wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving family? (the true test of ethical fortitude) If the second is answered correctly (HINT: "YES!"), you can move onto more meaningful discussion; if not, you must show them the inconsistency of their responses.

Good luck!
